While most old electronics and appliances end up in landfills, Captain Heartless gives a second life to these unused metal objects. Instead of throwing away old motor rots found in the junkyards, he turns them into interesting robotic lamps. These functional steampunk lamps will please the nerd within you while adding aesthetic industrial charm to your home or office interior.
To create the robot lamps, he first disassembles broken appliances and uses only the required parts, as well as, other sorts of metal objects. After stripping motors from excess material, he cleverly uses them to house a brand new electrical circuit that’s further combined with antique cameras and other everyday objects to create one of a kind sculptures.
Captain Heartless started making these illuminating bots one year ago. The first generation of Robot lamps, dubbed Hooverbots family, have already found their human companions and brightening up their life with exquisite rustic charm. Those bots were made from old vacuum cleaners, hence named as the HooverBot family with a height varying from 30 to 40cm.
Now the next generation of bots, named Mechanitron family, has been introduced to the world. This collection is double the size of their ancestors – as these robotic lamps are made from bigger motors and height reaching up to 55cm. These new bots also have extra space for additional electronics, such as voltmeters, dimmers, sockets and even motors that allow them to have moving parts of their own.
You may purchase these steampunk robotic lamps from Captain Heartless’ Etsy shop. For now, check out the stunning designs of these illuminating bots.
